How much do lessons cost?

Q:  How much do lessons cost?

A:  Please fill out the contact page to email AMS for current rates and availability.

Q:  What should Mom or Dad do during the lesson?

A:  Parents are always welcome in the lesson.  It is up to you whether you would like to sit in the lesson or not, however, most students realize better progress when they are on their own.

What should parents do?

Payment?

Q:  How and when should I pay for the lesson?

A:  Lessons are billed at the end of the month for the whole month.  Please pay using the App "Venmo" which is easy and safe.  Search for the handle @Aragonmusicstudio and follow the simple directions for payment.  Payment not received by the 10th of the next month will have a late fee added to the invoice.

Missed lesson?

Q:  What happens if I miss a lesson?

A:  Lessons are viewed as standing appointments.  There is a strict no-cancellation policy.  If Mrs. Aragon is unable to give a lesson, the lesson will always be made up or a credit will be issued.  You may take advantage of "lesson swapping"  if you know you won't be able to make your lesson time.

Lesson Swapping?

Q:  What is lesson swapping?

A:  Lesson Swapping is a tool used to retain your weeks' lesson in lieu of an absence.  Whether you're going to be absent because of a planned event such as a birthday party or scout trip, or a last minute illness, you would use lesson swapping.  AMS families have access to a private file with the schedule, names, and contact information for other lessons.  Reach out to someone on the schedule, offer a lesson swap, then exchange lessons.  That's it!  AMS is a community of families that strive to build each other up and promote the Golden Rule. This ensures students still get their lessons, even when life gets busy.

What to bring?

Q:  What should we bring to the lesson?

A:  New piano students will receive a set of four lessons books at their first lesson.  Please bring a spiral notebook so Mrs. Aragon can keep track of assignments and notes.  Students should bring all piano books and assignment book to each lesson thereafter.  Voice students should bring a water bottle and binder with paper for notes.

How can parents encourage their child?

Q:  How can I help my child while they are enrolled in lessons?

A:  You are your child's biggest cheerleader!  Your role is to encourage, support, and help your child in their music lessons.  Need help motivating?  See the AMS Pinterest board for helpful resources.

Practicing?

Q:  How often should my student be practicing?

A:  Each student needs to practice regularly to see results.  As a general rule of thumb, students should follow the chart below for practice time.  Need help motivating?  Click the above link to the AMS Pinterest board for helpful resources!

Students should practice at the same time daily to create good habits.  Parents can sit with young players in the beginning to assist and establish a routine.

Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Grade: 10-20 focused minutes, 3-5 times a week.

3rd, 4th & 5th Grade:  20-30 focused minutes, 4+ days a week.

Middle & High School:  30+ focused minutes, 5+ days a week.

Please provide written notice one month ahead of discontinuing.  Lessons will be billed for the entire month and end at a regular billing cycle.

How do I discontinue lessons?
